Unique Elements
When Elizabeth Taylor was in Rome filming ‘Cleopatra,’ she spent much of her time off in the Bulgari offices choosing and commissioning magnificently jeweled sets like this one. With iconic multicolored gems, flexibility and instantly reognizable design, you will also feel like royalty in this set. This collar necklace can be worn on its own as well, equally at home with an open white shirt and a ballgown.

Amethyst Amethyst means “not drunk” in ancient Greek and has long been associated with Bacchus, the God of Wine, it is thought due to its wine-like color. Amethyst is a variety of quartz, ranging in color from lilac to dark purple. Amethyst was at one point equal in value to ruby, emerald, and sapphire and features in royal jewelry throughout time. Amethyst is the February birthstone.

Green Tourmaline Tourmalines come in a wide range of colors, from red, pinks and peach to green, yellow and blues. Emerald Green tourmaline is rare and was mistaken for emerald as recently as the 18th century. Unlike natural emeralds, which typically feature many inclusions, green tourmalines can be found with few natural flaws. Tourmaline is an October birthstone, as well as the 8th wedding anniversary stone.

Round Brilliant-Cut The Round Brilliant Cut dates back to 1919, when Marcel Tolkowsky calculated a formula for proportional diamond design to maximize fire, brilliance and wearability, published as “Diamond Design: A Study of the Reflection and Refraction of Light in Diamond.” A round brilliant diamond can also be called a full cut diamond if it features the cutting standard of 57 or 58 facets.

Parure Parure, from the French parer, "to adorn" refers to a jewelry set of matched pieces, typically a matching necklace, earrings, pin and bracelet and even a headpiece or tiara. The demi-parure is a less than full set and can be as few as two matching pieces, such as earrings and a necklace or a matching necklace and bracelet.

Bulgari Founded in Rome in 1884 by Sotirios Voulgaris, who changed his name to Bulgari, the company continued to expand after World War 2 with the introduction of its renowned Serpenti collection of bracelet-watches. During the 1950s and 60s Bulgari continued to make its name for use of multi-colored stones, creating pieces for Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergman and Gina Lollobrigida. Today the house continues to be known for angular forms, strong colors, cabochon gems and enduring collections such as Serpenti and Parentesi.
