Coral Coral is an organic gem ranging from red to pink to white in color. Corals are usually cut as beads or cabochons. Vintage coral is still acceptable for trade, but as coral reefs are endangered and now protected, Beekman New York does not carry any coral collected since 1979, when protections were first implemented.

Round Brilliant-Cut The Round Brilliant Cut dates back to 1919, when Marcel Tolkowsky calculated a formula for proportional diamond design to maximize fire, brilliance and wearability, published as “Diamond Design: A Study of the Reflection and Refraction of Light in Diamond.” A round brilliant diamond can also be called a full cut diamond if it features the cutting standard of 57 or 58 facets.

Van Cleef and Arpels Established in 1906, Van Cleef and Arpels has maintained its flagship in the Place Vendôme in Paris ever since. Known for iconic motifs including flowers, animals, and fairies, the house has designed for the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Eva Peron, among many others.  VCA won the grand prize at the International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts in 1925 and established itself as one of the leading houses of the Art Deco period. In 1933, VCA patented its "Mystery Setting,” a technique where each stone is faceted onto invisible gold rails less than two-tenths of a millimeter thick. Each mystery setting can require 300 hours of work per piece or more, and only a few are produced each year. Signature collections include Alhambra, created in 1968.

Unique Elements
This coral and diamond Van Cleef and Arpels ring from 1968, featuring the highly prized peau d’ange (angel skin) tone of coral, goes with anything. Pair it with the coordinating ‘Philippine’ yellow gold, white gold and tiger’s eye and diamond rings in our collection for a stacked look, wear it with pastels or neutrals tones for a day look or let it sparkle against a jacket or dress at night.
