Harry Winston Known as the "King of Diamonds" and "Jeweler to the Stars," Harry Winston founded his eponymous house in 1932 in New York City. The house acquired some of the most famous diamonds in the world, including the Jonker and the Hope Diamond, which Winston donated to the Smithsonian. The song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" includes the words "Talk to me, Harry Winston, tell me all about it!" Notable clients include Jackie Kennedy Onassis, who wore a Harry Winston engagement ring and Elizabeth Taylor, who owned a flawless pear-shaped diamond. WInston passed in 1978, leaving the company to his two sons. The company was acquired by the Swatch Group in 2013.

Round Brilliant-Cut The Round Brilliant Cut dates back to 1919, when Marcel Tolkowsky calculated a formula for proportional diamond design to maximize fire, brilliance and wearability, published as “Diamond Design: A Study of the Reflection and Refraction of Light in Diamond.” A round brilliant diamond can also be called a full cut diamond if it features the cutting standard of 57 or 58 facets.
