Unique Elements
This is one of the most iconic David Webb designs and highlights the craftsmanship of the house.

Emerald The name emerald comes from the ancient Greek word for green and is the green to greenish blue variety of beryl. If a stone is “too light” to be an emerald, it is called a green beryl, although there is no agreement as to exactly where this distinction applies. Emeralds have been mined since 330BC and were used in Cleopatra’s jewelry, as well as by royalty throughout the world. Emerald is the birthstone of May and the stone of the 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries.

Enamel Enamel is a coating applied to metals using high temperatures to produce glassy vivid colors. This technique has been used throughout time, by the ancient Persians, ancient Egyptians, in China, Rome, Greek, Celtic territories, and the Byzantine Empire. Key styles include the cloisonné technique, known as the "cell technique," where are placed in a desired pattern and the spaces are then filled with enamel, as well as Champlevé, where patterns are inset on a thicker plate. Guilloché , associated with both Fabergé and Cartier, is symmetrical engraving produced by the Rose-Engine machine, invented in the early 1800s.

Articulation This is the use of hinges or attachments between elements in jewelry to provide flexibility as well as movement. Articulation can make jewelry more comfortable to wear, as it can better follow the contours of the body. Articulation can also be used to provide visual interest with movement.

Round Brilliant-Cut The Round Brilliant Cut dates back to 1919, when Marcel Tolkowsky calculated a formula for proportional diamond design to maximize fire, brilliance and wearability, published as “Diamond Design: A Study of the Reflection and Refraction of Light in Diamond.” A round brilliant diamond can also be called a full cut diamond if it features the cutting standard of 57 or 58 facets.
