Baguette Cut The baguette-cut dates back to the art deco period of the 1930s. Cut in a long thin rectangle with 14 facets, this cut is named after its resemblance to the long thin French bread. Like the emerald cut, the baguette cut highlights the clarity of the stone.

Round Brilliant-Cut The Round Brilliant Cut dates back to 1919, when Marcel Tolkowsky calculated a formula for proportional diamond design to maximize fire, brilliance and wearability, published as “Diamond Design: A Study of the Reflection and Refraction of Light in Diamond.” A round brilliant diamond can also be called a full cut diamond if it features the cutting standard of 57 or 58 facets.

Fred Leighton Fred Leighton was formed in the 1970s by Murray Mondshein, who later changed his name to Fred Leighton to match the name of his store. By the 1990s Fred Leighton had become the jeweler to the stars, outfitting actresses such as Nicole Kidman with vintage, often art deco jewels for events such as the Oscars.

Unique Elements
Winter motifs have long been a jewelry inspiration, and snowflake designs have been particularly popular in earrings and pins since the 1950s. These earrings are great for a cocktail party as well as for a black tie event.
