Peridot and Diamond Bow Pin, Verdura

SKU: J0290

75.96 carat peridot pin/pendant set with round brilliant cut diamonds, Verdura.

Unique Elements
Similar to the 1941 ‘Wrapped Heart’ pin (also in our collection), this magnificent nearly 76 carat peridot features the similar iconic Verdura design element of diamonds wrapping around a major gem or gems. This pin features a bow motif in the diamonds, popular since the 17th century in fine jewelry. Add a bit of romance with this pin on your tuxedo, jacket lapel or shoulder, and definitely at the waist or shoulder of a gown.

Peridot Peridot was originally mined by ancient Egyptians who called it the “gem of the sun.” Peridot ranges from brown-green to yellowish green to pure green. The Romans called peridot the “emerald of the evening” and the deepest green peridot have been mistaken for emeralds for centuries. Peridot is the August birthstone and the 15th anniversary stone.

Round Brilliant-Cut The Round Brilliant Cut dates back to 1919, when Marcel Tolkowsky calculated a formula for proportional diamond design to maximize fire, brilliance and wearability, published as “Diamond Design: A Study of the Reflection and Refraction of Light in Diamond.” A round brilliant diamond can also be called a full cut diamond if it features the cutting standard of 57 or 58 facets.

Verdura Founded by Duke Fulco di Verdura in New York in 1939 with the backing of Vincent Astor and Cole Porter, the house of Verdura created gems featured in the Hitchcock film Suspicion, collaborated on a collection with Salvador Dali, and outfitted Vogue editor Diana Vreeland, Princess Diana and Greta Garbo, among many others.
