Rubellite Hoop Earrings, Seaman Schepps

SKU: J0350

18k yellow gold half hoop clip on earrings set with 24 carats cushion-cut rubellites, signed Seaman Schepps.

Unique Elements
These rubellite earrings feature both an iconic Seaman Schepps half hoop shape and deep red stones. Pair them with a suit or tailored look for day, and with a little black dress at night.

Rubellite Rubellite, from the Latin "rubellus" or reddish, is the red to intense pinkish red variety of tourmaline. Rubellite is the most sought after and thus expensive tourmaline, often exceeding rubies in price, due to its beauty and rarity.

Cushion Cut The cushion cut, which can be both a modern or “old mine” cut is a square or rectangular diamond with softly rounded corners, like a cushion. Most colored gems as well as diamonds were cushion cut in the 19th century, and it is one of the best diamond cuts for retaining natural color, which is why it remains popular for colored stones to this day. The old mine cut has 58 facets where a modern cushion cut typically has 64 facets.

Schepps was known as “America’s Court Jeweller” with clients including President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Duchess of Windsor, and members of the Du Pont, Mellon and Rockefeller families Seaman Schepps passed on in 1972 and the house has remained one of the premier American jewelers.
