Ruby and Polished Gold Scroll Earrings, Seaman Schepps

SKU: J0571

18k polished yellow gold scroll clip on earrings set with calibré cut rubies, Seaman Schepps. Length 1″

Unique Elements
Calibré-cut rubies are rarely seen in modern jewelry, as they are extremely labor intensive and difficult to set. These earrings highlight the skill of the artisans of Seaman Schepps.

Ruby Ruby is called “the king of gems” in Sanskrit. Rubies have obtained the highest per-carat price of any colored stone. Ruby is a variety of corundum, a mineral species that also includes sapphire. Rubies range from orangey red to pure red to purplish red. Trace elements of chromium cause ruby’s red color. Ruby is the July birthstone and the stone for the 15th and 40th anniversaries.

Calibré-cut Calibré refers to faceted stones that are custom cut or calibrated in square, rectangular, or round shapes to fit together with no gaps between the stones. A hallmark of the art deco period, emerald, sapphire and ruby can be found as calibré -cut as well as fancy colored diamonds.
