.72 carats rubies in 18K yellow gold double lion’s head cuff bracelet, Ilias Lalaounis, inside circumference 6.5″

Unique Elements
This lion’s head bracelet is just so glamorous in addition to being the iconic Lalaounis example of masterful goldwork and mythical references. We picture ourselves as Jackie Onassis wearing this bracelet on holiday in Greece with otherwise bare arms so that all you see is the flash of rubies everywhere.

Ruby Ruby is called “the king of gems” in Sanskrit. Rubies have obtained the highest per-carat price of any colored stone. Ruby is a variety of corundum, a mineral species that also includes sapphire. Rubies range from orangey red to pure red to purplish red. Trace elements of chromium cause ruby’s red color. Ruby is the July birthstone and the stone for the 15th and 40th anniversaries.

Ilias Lalaounis Ilias Lalaounis was a fourth generation jeweller who founded his eponymous brand in 1969. Famous for historic pieces and gold, the house has many notable clients including Empress Farah of Iran and Aristotle Onassis, who purchased pieces for Maria Callas and Jacqueline Kennedy. In 1993, Lalaounis opened a museum in Athens featuring several thousand pieces of his work. Lalaounis passed in 2013 and the firm is currently run by his daughters.
