+-Where does the name Beekman come from? We felt strongly that the name should speak to the company’s heritage as a New York-based trading experience, and Beekman is one of the earliest names recorded in the oyster trade of New York in the 1600s. As we carry many types of pearls, we thought an oyster name was fitting. We also thought of the character of Sir Francis Beekman, who is the owner of a diamond mine in the 1953 film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” starring Marilyn Monroe.
+-Why now? More than ever we feel there is a desire to bring more joy into our lives and also to act in a socially responsible way.
